Curriculum

The Violin Studio conducts regular level tests to evaluate each students' progression. Theses assessments help us place students in the appropriate level, ensure they are developing the right skills, and identify areas for further improvement.

After each test, students will receive a certificate of completion for their level. This not only celebrates their progression but also provides a short-term goal to stay motivated.

The Violin Studio uses the Suzuki Book as the foundation of our teaching. After completing Book 2, the difficulty increases, so we begin to add scales and etudes.

Many students and parents wonder: "What do we learn at each level?"

Here’s a general breakdown of our progression:

  • Beginning Violinist (Pre-Twinkle)

    • Focus on learning the basic-proper posture, how to hold the instrument and bow, and fundamental techniques. This level is all about building a strong foundation.

  • Advanced Violinist (Level 1-3)

    • Introduce basic shifting, scales, advanced posture, and tone production. By the end of this stage, one will have a good sense of first position and by ready for more complex skills.

  • Mastering Violinist (Level 4-6), (Level 7+)

    • Start to learn vibrato and more advanced scales. Students also begin preparing for small competition or auditions at their own pace.

    • Work on professional-level etudes and scales. The focus shifts toward mastering advanced techniques and preparing for higher.-level competitions and auditions.
